"Also during the '70s, when KISS was popular, we got tickets to a concert and dad went down and talked to Gene Simmons while he went offstage to fix his makeup. (laughter) I was going to these rock concerts with my parents; it was kinda neat."
-Lisa Kirby

A few weeks ago I was reading a thread at Shane Glines where someone suggested that Jack Kirby had an appreciation for Glam Rock, followed by the startling gossip that Kirby had been tapped to do a Ziggy Stardust comic book.

Take a second. Let that sink in.

Now, I looked and I looked, and I found no further news on this mysterious project, so I assume it was just a joke. Too bad. That would have been one of the greatest comics known to man!

Looking around the Oddball Comics forum, I found a thread on superhero related songs. Once again, a Kirby story popped up. This one was verifiable. The King's Encounter with Paul McCartney. More on that night, and the KISS quote from the top, can be found in this interview with Kirby's daughter, Lisa.

Two sites that aren't 100% on their feet yet, but deserve your attention, are Persephone's Queer Granny and K. Co's Crackers and Honey. Both are brilliant internet entrepeneurs ready to burst out and bite you on the ass any day now.

Perse's site was inspired by this incident, and she's been using her design skills toward making fun t-shirts and the like. You can see the original Queer Granny design at her original website. The two Hulk-Like designs from her current front page are derived from the tremendous rage expressed by my favourite skateboarding aunt, SFD.

K. Co (aka Karissa) is one mad DIY machine. She's my former roommate, as is her web designer Kev. My spies at Canzine tell me that the brand-spanking new Crackers and Honey site will be up and running any time now! And Kevin has a moustache! I can't put into words just how amazing both Kevin and Karissa are at their various talents. I might seem biased, seeing as the two of them were members of houseofirony.com, but I can't emphasize enough just how incredibly groovy their little enterprise is. And Karissa is the Hardest Working Seamstress in Show Biz. Give 'em all your money for comfy undies!

Why am I promoting two businesses that aren't fully operational yet? Well, I've had one mean 24 hours, in which tough decisions were made and disappointment was looming. I was all set to rant about it here, but I realized that there were just too many good things and good people who don't let that stop them from getting it together. Right on!

So, to the people above... You Get To Burning!
